When booking in DHL eCommerce shipments via Starshipit customers have to schedule a pickup through DHL's website. After that they are sent an email with the airway-bill and handover note which they have to include with the parcels.

This would save a lot of time for users having to switch between two systems, also means many more users would invest in signing up to Starshipit

Agreed. 
In addition to this, platforms like Dear Inventory which connect to Starshipit do not allow automatic pickup/collection for DHL. Therefore customers must flick between both platforms, firstly to create the booking in Dear and then secondly to book in the collection/pickup in Starshipit which isn't logical or efficient. 
Allowing automatic or automated DHL collection/pickups each day would simplify the process considerably for customers.
