Ability to use Starshipit to keep track of packaging inventory

I want to be able to add a record of packaging inventory in my warehouse ie.
Small box * 20
Med box * 40
Large box * 100
And as packaging is used in Starshipit, to reduce those quantities. 
In an ideal world I would like to be able to use this to track cost of packaging per order, and use this as a mechanism to understand when I need to re-order more packaging

I have been thinking of how to manage this also. We have had many issues with being caught with low or no boxes in the past and since, have had team conducting a weekly stocktake of assets. In it's current form, I have been utilising the package sent report and collating those numbers into our inventory management software and cross referencing with the team's count. It is not a good idea to create a product associated with the order unless your packaging rules are 100 percent perfect every time as the box type changes.
